Peptide Therapy

Peptide therapy uses synthetically created peptides to mimic the function of your body's natural peptides (which decline with age). Peptides have a wide array of effects on the body, from improving lean muscle mass to increasing the efficiencies of your cells. These are cutting-edge treatments that are for the most daring of biohackers.

Peptides

Sermorelin

Sermorelin is a 29-amino acid peptide. Sermorelin works on the anterior pituitary (the “master gland” of the brain) and increases the release of Growth Hormone (GH). By boosting your body's natural ability to produce GH, Sermorelin maximizes GH within a healthy range rather than causing unnatural and potentially unsafe harsh spikes in GH.

Benefits:
  • Can be paired to improve GLP-1 (Semaglutide / Tirzepatide) weight loss
  • Increased muscle mass
  • Increased strength
  • Improved skin quality
  • Can be cycled intermittently or taken continuously

Tesamorelin

Tesamorelin is a 44-amino acid peptide. Tesamorelin also works on the anterior pituitary (the “master gland” of the brain) and increases the release of Growth Hormone (GH). Tesamorelin maximizes your natural production of GH, restoring you to youthful levels of GH. Tesamorelin is clinically proven and FDA-approved.

Benefits:
  • Can be paired to improve GLP-1 (Semaglutide / Tirzepitide) weight loss
  • Reduces abdominal fat
  • Improves cholesterol
  • Decreases inflammation
  • Can be cycled intermittently or taken continuously

PT-141

PT-141 is a cyclic 7 amino acid peptide that simulates a natural hormone called Alpha-Melanocytes-stimulating hormone. PT-141 has been shown to increase sexual desire for women and improve performance for men already being treated for ED.

Benefits:
  • Increased sexual desire
  • Increased sexual satisfaction
  • Improved performance for men with ED

GLP-1 Agonists

Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are peptides that are FDA-approved for weight loss. These peptides are marketed commercially as Ozempic™, Wegovy™, Mounjaro™, and Zepbound™.  These revolutionary treatments deliver real, long-lasting results for thousands of patients.

Benefits:
  • Improved body composition
  • Weight-loss
  • Reduced risk of heart disease

Frequently asked questions

Learn more about Peptides

What are Peptides?

Peptides are groups of Amino Acids that are bound together and serve as important celling signaling molecules. The body produces over 7000 natural peptides that are critical for the day-to-day function of the body. The most well known peptide is Insulin (which regulates blood sugar), but there are countless other essential peptides, many of which decline in the process of aging or illness.

What is Peptide Therapy?

Peptide therapy is use of synthetically created peptides to mimic the function of our own natural peptides that decline with age or in certain disease states. Peptides have a wide array of effects in the body from improving lean muscles mass to increasing improving the efficiencies or your cellls.

What Peptide therapies are available through Valuemed?

Currently we are utlizing the following peptides for appropriate patients
- Semorelin
-Tesemorelin
- PT-141
-Semaglutide
- Tirezepatide.

We expect to add more peptides to our catalogues in the future.

What are the benefits of Peptide therapy

Peptides have wide ranging applications for human optimization, metabolic health, sexual performance and longevity. To learn more about the individual Peptides, please select one of the hyperlinks below

What are the risks of Peptide therapy?

Each peptide has its own safety/risk profile and can be viewed in the Peptide patient info links provided above. Before starting peptide therapy it is important to meet with one our trained professionals to determine if you are a good candidate for peptide therapy and to tailor your therapy to specific health needs.

How are peptides taken by a patient?

Peptides can be dosed in a number of ways, including injections, pills, and topical formulations. The peptides utilized by Valuemed are currently all taken by subcutaneous injection (an injection just below the skin and into the fat tissue). The dosing, dosing frequency, and duration of use differ depending on the peptide. Some peptides can be taken continuously over the course of years, while others are recommended to be intermittently cycled by your licensed provider according to safety protocols.

How long do peptides take to work?

Each peptide requires different durations to experience the designed effects. Certain peptides such as semaglutide, Tirzepatide. and PT-141 may start provided obvious benefits with in a few days to a few months. Peptides that influence growth hormone production (Sermorelin, Tesamorelin) do tend to tale longer (generally 2-6 months) to experience obvious benefits. Or course all people respond differently to drugs based on a number factors including genetics, lifestyle, and epigenetics.

Can you take multiple peptides at once?

Yes, it is very common for patients to take multiple peptides to achieve their health goals. For example, a patient losing weight of semaglutide may benefit from a cycle of Semorelin/Tesamorelin for improved fat loss and preserved or increased muscle mass.

How do you get the most benefit from Peptide therapy.

There are a number of factors which will influence the results you obtain with peptide therapy. Below are a few recommendations

- Always take medication as prescribed and speak to your provider before making any dosage changes.

- Prioritize energy balance and protein intake in while on peptide therapy. IF your goal is lose weight, you should maintain a calorie deficit of at least 500 calories daily while obtaining at least 0.8-1g of protein per kilogram of weight to avoid losing muscle with weight loss. Zone 2 cardio (moderate intensity such as brisk walking) should be prioritized abut 4x weekly for fat burning with a goal of between 150-300 min cardio per week. Resistance training 3x weekly should focus on sets of whole-body moderate resistance activities (e.g. push ups, air squats, lunges, sit ups, pull-ups) in which the individual can complete 10-20 repetitions per set. If your are new to training it is best to find a certified physical trainer/health coach to teach you proper form and practical routines.

- For those attempting to improve strength/muscle mass, it is recommended to be in a slight calorie surplus (500-100 kcal per day extra) with protien intake around 1.5-2 g per kilogram of bodyweight. Resistance training consists of higher resistance, fewer reps (1-5 reps for strength and 8-10 for muscle growth). Zone 2-3 cardio should still be completed 3-4 days per week for over all health.

If your goal is cardiovascular health, cardio should be the base of your training. In general, 70-80% of your cardio should be long sessions (45-90 minutes) of zone 2 cardio. the other 20-30 percent of training should focus on High Intensity Interval Training (short bursts of very strenous activity with a pre determined rest period between sets. The most common type of HIIT training is Tabada training which the athlete does an interval which is twice as long as the provided rest.

Other important factors which will determine the degree of benefit you recieve from peptide therapy is to ensure your other health markers such nutrient and hormone levels are optimized (please see our section on Male TRT and Female HRT for more information.

Lastly, sleep is crucial as a number of peptides require timing your dosing with your natural Circadian rhythm to obtain maximal benefits. Circadian rhythms are controlled by an area of the brain just above the optic nerve (which conveys light signals from the eyes). It appears circadian rhythms are largery determined by light exposure during the day with a relative decrease in light exposure 2 hours before bed. Healthy adults should aim for 7-8 hrs per day. What are the risks of peptide therapy

Fortunately, despite a surge in the use of peptides in recent years, side effects appear to mild to non-existanct in most patients. That being said most peptide therapies do not have long-term (> 1-2 years) human trials so the potential of long-term side effects can not be fully stated based on current research. please click the hyperlinks below to get more information on the risks and precautions with each unique benefits.
